PERFORMANCE
UnMasquerade
Through movement, a group of us told the story of the range of emotions we experienced emerging from a locked down world. A place where we could not see or touch one another, where we forgot what connection felt like, but we craved it. The dance depicted a searching, a yearning for one another. We started unfurling, questioning the space in between, reaching anxiously to connect. Finding a mirror in each other, sensing, following, seeing one another. Staying curious in the majority, one dancer fell to the floor, she was scared and felt safer in continued separation. Once noticed, the group pulled the fallen back into the fold, lifted her up, embraced her, and held her. This sign of friendship elated the group, they were ecstatic. Moving freely together, they were delighted to be all together again. Now they could once again surrender into each other's company and take off their masks.
